Ways to Pay for Childcare at Chafford Tots to Teens

At Chafford Tots to Teens, we offer flexible payment options to help families access quality childcare. Below, you will find information on the different ways you can pay for childcare, including government-funded schemes and employer-supported payment methods.

1. Tax-Free Childcare

What is it?
Tax-Free Childcare is a government scheme that helps working parents with childcare costs. For every £8 you pay into your childcare account, the government adds an extra £2, up to £2,000 per child per year (or £4,000 for children with disabilities).

 

Who is eligible?

  • Parents who earn at least £152 per week but no more than £100,000 per year.

  • Available for children aged 9 months to 11 years (or 16 years if they have a disability).

 

How to apply
Visit www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to apply. Once approved, you can make payments directly to our setting through your Tax-Free Childcare account.

2. Childcare Vouchers (Closed to New Applicants)

What are they?
Childcare Vouchers were an employer-backed scheme that allowed parents to pay for childcare using pre-tax earnings. Although this scheme closed to new applicants in October 2018, parents who were already enrolled can continue using them.

How to pay using Childcare Vouchers
If you are enrolled in the scheme, you can continue using your vouchers to pay for childcare. Please provide us with your voucher provider details so we can set up payments.

3. Universal Credit for Childcare

What is it?
If you receive Universal Credit, you may be eligible to claim back up to 85% of your childcare costs. The maximum you can claim is:

  • £951 per month for one child

  • £1,630 per month for two or more children

 

Who is eligible?

  • Parents must be working (or have a job offer) and earning within Universal Credit thresholds.

  • You must pay for childcare first and then submit receipts to claim reimbursement.

 

How to claim

  • Pay for childcare upfront.

  • Submit your receipts and proof of payment via your Universal Credit journal or at www.gov.uk/universal-credit.

 

4. 30 Hours Funded Early Education (for 3 & 4-Year-Olds of Working Parents)

What is it?
Some working parents of 3- and 4-year-olds can access an additional 15 hours of funded Early Education, bringing their total to 30 hours per week during term time.

Who is eligible?

  • Both parents (or the single parent in a single-parent household) must earn at least £152 per week but no more than £100,000 per year.

 

How to apply

📌 Important: You must renew your eligibility every three months.

5. Funded Early Education for 9-Month-Olds & 2-Year-Olds

What is it?
Certain families may be eligible for 15 hours of funded Early Education per week(38 weeks of the year – term time only) for their 9-month-old or 2-year-old. This applies to:

  • Working parents (both parents (or the single parent in a single-parent household) must earn at least £152 per week but no more than £100,000 per year)

  • Families on low income or receiving benefits.

  • Children with Special Educational Needs (SEND).

 

How to apply
Check your eligibility and apply via www.childcarechoices.gov.uk or contact your local council.

6. Payment via Bank Transfer

For private fee-paying parents or parents paying for enhanced services, we accept bank transfers. Payment details will be provided upon registration.

📌 Important: Payments are due monthly in advance, and invoices will be provided.

7. Student Finance Childcare Grant

What is it?
If you are a student in higher education, you may be eligible for a Childcare Grant to help with childcare costs. The government covers 85% of costs, up to:

  • £188.90 per week for one child

  • £323.85 per week for two or more children

 

How to apply
Apply through your Student Finance account at www.gov.uk/childcare-grant.
